 Chamber Information

OUR OBJECTIVE

The Chamber's main objective is to provide services to their members' businesses and the Greater Irondale community. The finances to operate the Chamber come in part from a generous grant received from the City of Irondale each year. However, our primary source of income is from memberships and their annual dues.
Additional funding is also received by our Golf Classic event, Corporate Sponsors, luncheon sponsors, and sales from ads for our newsletter, Irondale Express. Other revenue is from our affiliation programs such as our promotional agreements with DeltaCom and Liberty National Insurance.

HISTORY

The Greater Irondale Chamber of Commerce held its first organizational meeting on December 9, 1987 and its first Board of Directors meeting 9 days later. On January 8, 1988, GICC was incorporated and went on to receive its Section 501 (c)(6) status on September 7th of that same year.

THE RED CABOOSE

Caboose2The City of Irondale acquired a red Southern Railroad caboose in 1994, restored it, built a deck around it and offered it to the Chamber for office space. The Chamber moved into the Caboose in July 1995 and you will still find us there today.
